Tell us what drives you? What is your passion in life?

I am driven by my passion.

My passion is into relating ills and challenges people faced daily through the means of poetry. Through poetry I can relate better with myself and others, I can connect broken parts, I can convey meaningful messages and I can narrate unique happening.

How did you find your passion and how old were you?

Well, I was 17 years old in my senior year of High school when I had the
opportunity to read one of the poems that shaped my life to poetry.
It was entitled “Rendezvous over Kpedu” written by Bai Tamia Johnson
Moore, a Liberia poet, novelist, folklorist, and essayist.

After reading this poem, I developed the mindset of wanting to relate my
thoughts and feelings in a manner that others who may have had such
experience will enjoy, appreciate, and also benefit from my work.

One of the best ways I could do this was to tell the Liberian story, was to relate the
Liberian conditions and situations, and poetry seem to accomplish just that.
So, I started reading poems from great poets.
The likes of Bai T. Moore, William Shakespeare, Robert Frost, Chinua
Achebe, Wole Soyinka, and other great writers. Reading their works has had
a huge impact on my poetic journey

What drove you to make money from your passion?

I realized that my passion was something of value, and whatever has value
must have a price, whatever has price must be purchase with a price. So I
decided to brand myself and add some price to my valuable passion thus
making some cash from my passion
.

When was the first time you were paid for your passion?

It was when I had the opportunity to perform on the biggest Mande platform in
Liberia (“Annual Mande Festival). I received some cash while performing as
an artist and I also received cash as an invited spoken word artist on the
program.

What kept you going when you thought about giving up?

The strong passion to change lives to give hope to the hopeless and to relate
with everyone around me through my work, keeps me from giving up.

What motivates you every day to be even more successful?

The desire to change lives with my work.
Secondly, I am motivated by reading works of other writers who keep inspiring
and enlightening me to keep soaring.

What do you have to say to all of the people who doubted you?

I don’t have anything to say to them, but to keep proving myself to them on a
daily basis so, instead of doubting they will be endorsing.

What advice do you give to aspiring creatives who look up to you?
