Meet  # CreatePreneurAfrica, OSCAR BIMPONG

A visionary leader paving promising economic pathways of success!

Tell us what drives you? What is your true passion in life?

I have been asked this question of what drives me the umpteenth time and my answer hasn’t changed over the years.

My mandate on earth is to help as many people that I can to realise their vision and to live their full potential in life.

I believe a life without a vision is like a journey with no destination in mind.

My mission is to help people and organisations to identify where they are and where they want to be and to develop a plan to get there. That is every vision must have a passion that fuels it.

For me, the testimonies I get from the people are the fuel that ignites my passion on a consistent basis.

How did you find your passion and how old were you?

In relation to when I discovered my passion, I can say at a younger age. My dad, Edward Bimpong, inspired me at a younger age.

He is the one that told me that, Oscar, always pursue your own vision even if you have a full-time job.

This statement is ingrained in my mind such that it is part and parcel of my life. However, my passion was ignited after University. I have exploited different businesses over the last two decades until I found out what my true purpose on earth is.

That is the teacher in me was brought to bear in the last decade, leading me to become a motivational speaker, a business trainer and a consultant.

What drove you to make money from your passions?

The fact is not every passion starts to make money from the first day you identify it. That is the reality on the ground. Many in life are disappointed not just because they are not good at their trade but because their concentration on money prevented them from having opportunities to exhibit what they are passionate about.

When was the first time you were paid for your passion?

I remember the first time I made money from speaking was about five years ago after working on my vision for three years prior to that. Since then, more doors have opened to me to speak on different platforms across the globe. My initial sacrifice of giving my services for a free paved way for others to know what I’m worth and what I can do to the best of my ability.

Can you define the root of your passion. What makes it personally appealing to you?

What I have got to understand over the years is that if you identify your purpose, giving up begins to become extinct in pursuit of your vision. Your purpose becomes a hobby. I have never seen anyone in life that has given up on their hobby just because they are encountering challenges in pursuing it. Many always give up in life because their God-given purpose is not aligned to their vision.

Furthermore, my source of motivation every day comes from God and secondly my conscious effort to bring a difference in the lives of the people I encounter on the daily basis. The more I get results, the more motivated I become. Meaning consistency in pursuit of any vision is critical to the success of that vision.

What do you have to say to all of the people who doubted you?

To the people who doubted me, especially from family and friends, I have got to a stage in life where I have discovered that they are part of your success journey.

I always advise people that, those that doubted you should not make you feel bad or emotional, but they should be a source of inspiration, not to prove them wrong, but to let your success story inspire hope in them and ignite their vision as well. That is, I want them to say to themselves:

“If you could do it, then we can achieve our dreams too”

What advise do you give to aspiring createpreneurs who look up to you?

My advice to anyone aspiring or pursuing their vision is to understand that this is a journey and not a destination. Success is not an overnight phenomenon but a continuous effort to become a better version of yourself or vision on a daily basis. The moment you have the passion for instant success, that is the moment you start to fail.

Patience, tenacity, hard work with a strategic focus and a positive mindset coupled with self-belief is what you need to survive in the market of pursuing your own vision.

It is never an easy journey, but having role models that have done what you want to achieve is one source of inspiration to let you know that it is possible.

That is I want to assure you that it is possible if only you believe.
