Meet CreatePreneurAfrica Crysto Panda

Tell us what drives you? What is your true passion in life?

Crysto Panda is a guy who was born in a poor local village family down in southern Uganda in Kabonera, Masaka district……..My late mum used to be a bartender and she gave birth to me when she was 16years old after dropping out of school. She never studied because she wanted to give me life

Many of her friends advised her to abort me but she never did so, my mum fought so hard for me to study. Unfortunately, I lost my dad when I was 10years old and mum had to raise money for me to study. She passed on in 2011 leaving me with 3 younger brothers to take care of.

The struggle I saw my late mum endure so that I can be who I am today is my still driving force. My true passion in life is to be the best TV presenter, actor, artist and Emcee in Uganda, Africa and worldwide.

How did you find your passion and how old were you?

When I was 9 years old I always told my mum that I wanted to be a doctor one day.  My poverty-stricken life meant cleaning school toilets to raise my school fees.

My school performance became poor in high school  and after a few years my mum passed on when I completed high school

How did you find your passion and how old were you?

I was 20 years old and failed to join a university when mum passed on and I had no sponsors. I realized I could be a good tv presenter, and strived to perfect my language skills in English  like listening to  BBC news and  picking out a few words I didn’t know, noting  them down and then check for the meanings in the dictionary

What drove you to make money from your passions?

I familiarised myself with western music mostly hip-hop music and it took me 3 years as try seeking for an opportunity to work on NTV.

I never gave up trying, then after 4 years they gave me a chance after a seasonal show I did on WBSTV.

What kept you going when you thought about giving up?

Everything ……..because I hustled for who I am today

What motivates you every day to be even more successful?

The promises I made to my mum before she passed on kept on pushing me and also my siblings. The love of finishing my studies since all my late mum wanted was  for me to finish up my studies and also cater for my siblings.

What do you have to say to all of the people who doubted you?

After being given a chance to host Tnation on NTVUganda in April 2015 I was put on probation for a full year without being paid any single penny.

Then in April 2016, I was given my contract where I was being paid 700,000 shillings which I used to pay for my tuition and my siblings too.

What advice do you give to aspiring creatives who look up to you?

Crysto Panda motivates me because I look up to myself and every time I reflect back and see how I used to sleep hungry, walk miles and miles to go to school. Trust me I feel like am not yet there so I get to work so hard because my dream is to represent Uganda on big international entertainment channels like BET and MTVBase

Look at me NOW am a living testimony that dreams come true and its never your problem to be born in a poor family but it will be your problem to die poor

Be you, do you, never give up, patience and persistence are key in life, never give up on your education because it’s the key to success.

If I never finished up my studies trust me I wouldn’t be here, I took myself back to school, paid for myself then am a graduate now and am still studying.

One last thing, be versatile and NEVER FORGET GOD because he has a reason as to why you’re still alive.
